Bonsai, Olive Tree, Olea europaea
The olive tree is a hardy plant. This tree, with its knotty trunk, grey bark and tiny leaves, is an absolute gem in any bonsai collection. The wild olive tree does not produce any fruit.
Location:
In summer outdoors in a sunny to partially shaded place.
Winter storage:
The tree is not hardy, and must be brought into a cool space, e.g. a greenhouse, where it can spend the winter at a temperature between five and ten degrees. The tree should not be brought in to its winter location until the temperature has fallen below zero degrees, however. This exposure toughens the olive tree up.
