Ornamental Apple, Malus, Outdoor-Bonsai
The ornamental apple is a fast-growing tree that is very easy to care for. It is a good choice for beginners. The apple tree stands out at two points in the year: In spring, when the blossoms come out, and in autumn, when the fruit appears. The small fruits of the ornamental apple often stay on the tree well into the winter season.
Location:
The apple tree likes a sunny to partly shady position in the open air. In summer, the bonsai should be protected from the very hot mid-day sun. It should be noted that this tree requires quite a lot of water.
Winter storage:
Apple trees can withstand low temperatures down to – 10°C. If the temperature falls below that, then root protection is necessary. This is done by lowering the root either with its dish, or without its dish, into the earth, and covering it with leaves and branches. Please note: the dish could potentially be damaged by heavy frost.
