Bonsai, Stewartia monodelpha
The Stewartia monadelpha, a type of false camellia, is popular because of its small, white flowers with yellow stamens in the middle. In autumn, the leaves acquire an attractive colour before they fall from the tree. It has another defining feature: the smooth, light brown bark peels off when it is old.
Location:
In summer, it is best to place this tree outdoors, in a partly shady location.
Winter storage:
The tree is not hardy, and must be brought into a cool space, e.g. a greenhouse, where it can spend the winter at a temperature between five and ten degrees.
