Chinese Quince, Pseudocydonia, Outdoor-Bonsai
The Chinese Quince is a deciduous shrub. The smooth leaves are dark green in summer, and they turn dark red in autumn. The Chinese Quince is a very popular bonsai because of its pretty pink to red blossoms. The Chinese Quince needs quite a lot of water. The earth should be kept damp at all times. It should not, however, be allowed to become waterlogged.
Location:
It prefers to be in the open air, in a sunny to partly shady spot.
Winter storage:
The Chinese Quince is planted in a pot but has only limited hardiness. It is therefore better to place the Chinese Quince, at temperatures from minus three to minus five degrees, in a frost-free room, such as a garage or cold house. The temperature should not be allowed to go over five or six degrees, however.
